Neil Grutchfield
Dramaturg

I’m delighted to announce that Birmingham Rep have come aboard to co-produce Juliet Gilkes At The Gates Of Gaza after a successful script development process in which i have beeen working as Juliet’s dramaturg. Steven Luckie’s Big Creative Ideas have a UK tour scheduled for 2008.

I worked as dramaturg on JB Rose’s music industry based play The Next Big Thing and it was performed at the Albany Theatre in June. Following its success JB is going back into the recording studio and Tell Tarra hope to produce a longer run of the show in future.

I’ve been assisting editors Ruth Little (now Literary Manager at the Royal Court) and Emily McLaughlin on a book celebrating the 50th anniversary of the English Stage Company at the Royal Court. It will be indispensible to anyone intersted in the history of new writing and is a funny, irreverent and surprising account of over 100 of the 800+ plays premiered at the Court since 1956.A public launch of the book is scheduled for October 2007.

I’ve had a unique insight into the workings of Paines Plough Theatre Company, assisting George Perrin and Literary Manager Pippa Ellis as they presented a series of new writing workshops. I had the privilege to observe exercises lead by a terrific group of contemporary writers including Enda Walsh, Mark Ravenhill, Steve Thompson and David Eldridge.

Most recently i’ve been working as dramaturg with Quicksilver Theatre company.

With my non-dramaturgical hat i’ve also been working with Michaela Waldram-Jones consulting the Castle Wellingborough on getting some answers from their Box Office data in order to help them support and plan for the arrival of a new artistic director.

Somewhere in between all of that I got married to Valli and had the best day of our lives and an amazing journey through India for our honeymoon!
